Abstract
Analysis of Taepyeongmu Movement Principles from a Somatic Point of View ×

We analyzed Taepyeongmu (Dance of Peace) from a somatic point of view to understand the dance’s movement principles, using Kim Kyeonghee’s “BRACED” principle (year of paper that used “BRACED”).’ Taepyeongmu is a dance composed with various rhythms and parts. Accordingly, there are lots of body movements and turns, where it is essential to ‘Breathe’ and ‘Align’, which require ‘Relax’ of the body and the mind as in the principle of ‘BRACED.’ Consequently, the inner and outer movement are well ‘Connected’ to perform the Queen’s ‘Dance’, ‘Expecting’ peace in the country.

Based on the ‘BRACED’ principle, it is evident that all of the six principles of somatic movement are inherent in this dance. By conducting this research, we hope to lay the foundation for studying the principles of somatic movement of other traditional dances.

Abstract
The Spatial Analysis of Taepyeongmu's Movement : An Analysis Using Rudolf von Laban's Theory of Space Harmony ×

The purpose of this study is to conduct a spatial analysis of movement in Taepyeongmu using Rudolf von Laban's theory of Space Harmony. Laban emphasizes that 'space' can grasp the nature of movement and that while Eastern and Western perspectives may differ, it can be dealt with in terms of the universality of dance. In this study, I analyse Teobeolim(터벌림, widening ground) and Olimchae(올림채, uplift). The results of the spatiality of Taepyeongmu are as follows. The major Crystalline forms are analyzed as icosahedrons in Teobeolim and as cubes in Olimchae. The results of the Effort analysis shows that Taepyeongmu displayed the Bound Flow of the lower body, while the spraying of the Hansam caused Light Weight in Teobeolim and Free Flow of the upper body is utilized elastically in Olimchae. The use of the effort is found not to be simple and uniform, but to occur in a variety of complex movements. Research of Taepyeongmu’s spatiality is not limited only in the form of perfect skill and performance that focus on the transfer of skills, but it can also provide a theoretical basis for an analysis of Korean dance, allowing more various interpretations and an application of more efficient and clear movements.

Abstract
An Analysis of Korean Dance Research Trends through Text Mining Methods ×

This study analyzes the research trends of seven Korean traditional dances designated as national intangible cultural heritages that are given social values and cultural symbolism as a historical heritage of the country. Research papers were collected by using the seven dances as the search keyword and analyzed through text mining methods. These collected papers investigated frequency analysis, entity name recognition, connection centrality, and N-gram, focusing on their titles and publication years. For the final analysis, 1,043 articles published in academic journals and 1,065 thesis and dissertations in RISS were used.

As a result of the analysis, there is a large difference in the number of papers, depending on what genre an intangible heritage belongs to. It can be also found that research on traditional dances has gradually decreased. Many studies have shown the tendency to concentrate on the interpretation, preservation, and transmission of traditional dances. In the meantime, more studies are being conducted to develop or popularize Korean traditional dances as educational programs and contents.
